Juicy Gummy Worms

Kids love these all-natural gummy worms and enjoy making them too. Substitute another favourite fruit juice for pomegranate if you prefer.

Ingredients

  • 4 envelopes unflavoured gelatin powder
  • ¼ cup cold water
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup pomegranate juice
  • ¼ cup corn syrup

Method

Line an eight-by-eight-inch square pan with plastic wrap. Set aside.

Place cold water in a small bowl and sprinkle gelatin on top. Set aside. (Don't be concerned by its liquid state; it will become a solid mass.)

Combine pomegranate juice, sugar and corn syrup in a small pot over medium heat and stir until sugar is dissolved. Add gelatin mixture to pot, stirring to break it up until it has dissolved. Pour juice mixture through a fine sieve into the plastic-lined pan. Place in refrigerator for 2 hours or until firmly set.

Turn set mixture out onto a cutting board. Peel off plastic wrap and use a sharp knife to cut into thin strips for worms or use wet cutters to make whatever shape you desire. Makes about 6 dozen worms depending on how you cut them.
