Apple, Lemon Barbecue and Basting Sauce

This is not the usual heavy sweet barbecue sauce. Because it is lighter, it tastes great with chicken or fish, either brushed on while cooking or as a dipping sauce. It will keep for one month refrigerated.

1 cup apple-cider vinegar

2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons dried mustard powder

2 tablespoons lemon juice

2 teaspoons hot-pepper flakes

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1/4 cup ketchup

Whisk all ingredients together in a bowl. Taste and adjust seasoning. Makes about 2 cups.
